Canistrum montanum vipp 11-13 that goes by the nameA relatively new species from Bahia, Brazil, is a stoloniferous, tubular rosette to about 12 inches tall, with very stiff, spiny leaves. The coloration is gray to greenish with dark purplish mottling on the under (outer) sides of the leaves. The inflorescence is a capitate stellate head with large, wide, spiny orange red bracts and lavender tinted flowers. A handsome but slow growing rare species. Grows equally well potted or mounted.
