Blue & White Porcelain Yuhuchunping Vase - Phoenix Design Lamp Niches Beautiful 18th Century Water ColourThis vase is hand made on the potters wheel in the traditional way. It is then decorated by hand before firing. The name "Yuhuchunping" means literally "Pear shaped Vase" and is a style originating in the Tang dynasty (608 917) for use as a wine vessel. Later the shape was refined and became a classic vase style also known as a "Trumpet Mouth Vase." The rim is slightly flared with a straight neck that broadens at the ends and a bottom heavy body.
