Description

William Morris’s ‘Pimpernel' wallpaper

5cm (4 1\2") wide

Commissioned by Compton and Woodhouse

Approx 9cms (3 1/24") base diameter

It is marked QUART and on the other side of the handle VR 352 (which was the locale CHECK mark for Kent used from 1879 I understand - so the "then" Government equivalent to Weights and Measures has done a check that the measure was accurate) - which only means it was checked at that time - my research indicates the piece was a design used from the William IV era onwards - so most likely an 1840s piece
