Negoro Lacquer Japanese 4 Drawer Chest - Ca 1920 Console Tables This beautifully carved and patinatedThis striking small scale Japanese side dansu dates to circa 1920 and is decorated in Negoro lacquer a less common lacquer for tansu. During the 50's & 60's there was a well known dealer in Japan who refinished chests with negoro lacquer for the Western market. This finish of red lacquering Japanese furniture is known as negoro and originates in the 12th century AD although this lacquerwork would likely have been carried out during the 50's or 60's
