Carved Lintel Panel Of Ganesh & Gajalaxmi From Gujarat - 18thC Bangles 34 x 11 x 41This intricately carved antique Indian panel depicts Ganesh on the left and Gaja Lakshmi on the right. Gaja Lakshmi or Gajalaxmi means Lakshmi with elephants. She sits atop a lotus throne and symbolises both fertility and abundance whilst being bathed by elephants. Gaja Lakshmi motifs are commonly found in both Hinduism & Buddhism. The style of carving indicates it to be Gujarati in origin. It would have adorned an old haveli, a home of a merchant.
