The Aquamandix (manganese dioxide) helps oxidize the iron and the sand traps the precipitate, They are similar to Birm and Filox but slightly more robust than Birm and cheaper than Filox. They requires a pH of 7 or more for iron removal and 8 for manganese removal plus a dissolved oxygen level of at least 15%. In this kit we have added Juraperle to increase the pH.
