Red Lacquer Cabinet From Gansu - 19th Century Material - Jichimu cedarwood & black pepperThis exquisite antique lacquered Chinese cabinet is from Gansu province on the border with Mongolia and dates to the 19th century. It's an excellent example of Gansu workmanship featuring fluid painting over a deep red lacquer. The painting depicts scholarly objects; vases on stands, books, incense stands, and trees with twisted branches. The cabinet has been customised to be suited for use as a TV cabinet; the door pivots have been replaced with
