The metal actually feels like sterling silver, and the weight is consistent with this and it has clearly been polished with silver polish in the past as I had to clean some off when I acquired it. However there are no stamps or hallmarks and I have not acid tested it. The necklace stands on its own as a piece of machine age type design. I wondered if
