Carved Teak Masala Box From Saurashtra - 19th Century Origin - Nagaland This carved Doll has lostAn exceptionally well carved teak Masala box with nice patination from Saurashtra. These were used for storing spices, the word "masala" means 'spice mixture' in Hindi. The lid swivels in the traditional way to reveal five orbital compartments with a central round compartment.
