Canton Export Black Lacquer Stacking Haberdashery Box - Qing Dynasty Material - Cryptomeria Date: Modern craftedThis gilt black lacquer chinoiserie stacking box was made in the early 19th Century in Canton for export to The West. Decorated in delicate gilt and black lacquer, it comprises three stackable layers that sit within a handle case. Each layer contains arrangements of threads, bobbins, and boxes collected over many years by an avid collector. Scissors, a tape measure and threads are also contained. The bottom layer has a compartmentalised drawer. This
