The front is signed "Fran" on the lower right and the wood has an old time pressure sensitive label marked " Fran Williams"

They are perched under an arbor of grape vines

This vintage hand decorated tile was made by Fritz Hudler (1889-1982)

The condition is very good with some small flakes on edges

Belgian Antique Fireplace Tile of a Lion Wessel A fine example of theA press molded tile of a lion's head surrounded by a wreath from ESCOYEZ LOUIS TERTRE ET HAUTRAGE in Belgium. The company exhibited at the Columbian Exposition in 1893. This tile is made from a heavy and dense black basalt clay and was most likely used to line the box of a fireplace. Measures 4 1 2" square and 3 4" thick. The back is marked "TERTRE ESCOYEZ". The condition is very good with some small flakes on edges corners.
