A Model 1831 “Glaive” Sawback Short Artillery Sword Province of China designed with a high peakOften called the Coupe chou (cabbage cutter) by soldiers, this short sword presents a characteristically heavy and solid brass handle with integrated guard, scrolls on either flank, and a sawback edged blade, likely of German manufacture, with proof marks above guard, some light pitting, produced for Artillery troops, Engineers as well as NCOs, blade measures 49 cm in length, and total sword length of 63. 5 cm, accompanied by original scabbard in
