A Korean Order Of Military Merit; 4Th Class (Hwarang) Hold inscribed "ESTABLISHED UNDER ROYAL SANCTION"(Republic, South Korea) 3rd Grade, 1st Type (1950 1967): Three piece construction, bronze gilt with red, white and green enamels, 45 mm x 47. 8 mm, original ribbon with brooch pinback, intact enamels, greening evident on the obverse, near extremely fine. Footnote: The Order was instituted on October 18, 1950 and awarded in four classes, to military personnel for outstanding conduct during wartime or in a state of emergency, originally in four classes.
