Cappellano, Barolo Pie Rupestris, 2005 winback and about 70% of itOne of Barolo's most sought after bottlings, this wine comes from vines grafted onto Vitis Rupestris rootstockplanted in the 1940s in Cappellano's Serralunga vineyard. The name "Pi Rupestris" refers to this American rootstock, used after phylloxera devastated European vineyards. The estate, led by the late Teobaldo Cappellano until 2009 and now his heirs, represents uncompromising traditionalism: long maceration, large casks, minimal intervention. The
